[WORLDKINGS - Ideastime] Daily Highlights 23 May 2023 – Eyeball-Like Table Lamp Concept Can Change Direction Of Light On A Whim

(Wcsa.world) The Solus Lamp by Julian Topor comes in—a clever concept design that addresses both the intensity and direction of light in the quirky-looking package that resembles a human eyeball.

Searching for the “perfect” table lamp can be a rather arduous task. After all, the type of light source required changes depending on the activity at hand.

For example, a dim glow may be more suitable for hours spent reading, while a bright burst of light may come in handy for those tackling particular handicrafts or tasks that require greater illumination.

However, the issue arises as most of the lamps available on the market don’t readily allow users to change the spread of the beams, especially if it’s created to face only in one direction.

That’s where the Solus Lamp by Julian Topor comes in—a clever concept design that addresses both the intensity and direction of light in the quirky-looking package that resembles a human eyeball.

Interestingly, Topor revealed that the concept of the table lamp was inspired by the way the planets orbit around the sun.

Without leaving the desk, users can switch up the spread of this desk lamp’s light by adjusting the covers that are overlaid on the spherical bulb. Each of the covers can move independently of one another and can be tweaked to the perfect position.

The brightness of the lamp can then be controlled by a simple ring slider on its base, so you not only can direct the light source exactly how narrowly or widely you want it, but also how intense it shines.
