[WORLDKINGS - Ideastime] Daily Highlights 15 March 2023 – Collapsible Outdoor Shed Pulls Itself Open Like An Accordion

(Wcsa.world) The Iwi cabin was designed by Ecaudorian-based architects Juan Ruiz and Amelia Tapia to provide city-dwellers with an innovative way to open up their living quarters without sacrificing precious space.

Living in major cities means a major need to maximize your space. Here to help save the day is an accordion-like shed that can be compressed and expanded.

When fully extended, Iwi can unfold to 91 square feet and then compress back into just 26 square feet. Owners can quickly push and pull on the shed thanks to a wheel system that provides easy handling and storage.

The team has noted that owners can use it for anything from a recreational area, yoga studio, office, and even a cozy spot for a little siesta.

In its promotional images, Iwi has been set out on a rooftop in Quito, Ecuador. It was made for mild weather conditions ranging between 50°F and 77°F, with its exterior resistant to rain, wind, and sunshine. It is fitted with cork and sheep’s wool to keep its occupants warm on chillier evenings.

It has built-in shelving, drawers, and a little kitchenette as well. And it even has an electrical and water system for it to be turned into a literal makeshift guesthouse. Once it has served its purpose and fully collapsed, the Iwi can also be a storage space.

The concertina cabin can now be yours for a base price of US$7,950, but there is no other information on shipping just yet.
