Node is a modular charging system built around a single-cable architecture. It can be configured as either a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 charging dock using four interchangeable modules: a wireless charging phone stand, a wireless charging disk, an Apple Watch charging stand, and a portable lamp. Each module easily attaches to or detaches from the base, allowing users to adapt the system for different environments, whether at a desk, in another room, or while traveling.
Complementing Node is Loft, a compact 65-watt desktop charging station capable of powering up to four devices simultaneously. The station combines AC power and USB-C connectivity within a sculptural, minimalist form designed to blend naturally into modern workspaces rather than appearing as a conventional charging accessory.
A defining characteristic of the collection is its consistent design language. Rounded forms, soft arches, tactile materials, and recurring circular charging elements create a cohesive visual identity across both products. Instead of treating charging equipment as purely functional hardware, LAYER designed the collection to become an integrated part of everyday interiors.
According to Benjamin Hubert, charging is one of the most repeated interactions people have with technology, yet the products supporting that experience are often overlooked from a design perspective. Node and Loft seek to elevate these everyday objects by combining practical functionality with refined aesthetics.
