The TDS MSNB1 is designed to function in three distinct configurations. In its complete form, it operates as a waterproof outdoor boot suitable for hiking and camping activities. By removing selected components, it transforms into a practical outdoor mule for lighter use. It can then be further adapted into a comfortable indoor slipper, making it suitable for use around campsites or inside living spaces without changing footwear.

This versatility is made possible through a modular zipper system that runs along the tongue and wraps around the heel. The zippers allow users to assemble or remove different sections of the shoe quickly, making it easy to switch between configurations depending on the activity.

The shoe combines technical outdoor materials with a lifestyle-oriented design from Tokyo Design Studio. It features a stretch rip-stop upper for durability, a neoprene collar for comfort, and welded polyurethane overlays for additional protection. Instead of conventional shoelaces, the tongue incorporates internal bungee elastic laces, contributing to a cleaner appearance while simplifying the process of putting the shoes on and taking them off.

To improve outdoor performance, the TDS MSNB1 includes an eVent waterproof membrane that helps keep feet dry in wet conditions, along with a rubber outsole designed to provide traction and comfort across a variety of surfaces.
The model is offered in two color options, Zinc Blue and Pistachio Butter. Although the two versions share the same construction and functionality, each presents a different visual style.

By combining modular engineering with outdoor performance features, the New Balance TDS MSNB1 demonstrates how a single footwear design can adapt to changing environments, reducing the need to carry multiple pairs of shoes for different activities.
