Galian Le Formidable blends front cargo box and longtail design for family transport

(wcsa.world) Galian Cycles showcased the Le Formidable cargo e-bike at Eurobike 2026, presenting a distinctive design that combines the advantages of a front-loading cargo bike with those of a longtail bicycle. Developed for family transportation, the model is intended to handle school runs, shopping trips, cargo hauling, and passenger transport within a single platform.

Rather than following a conventional cargo bike layout, Le Formidable adopts what Galian calls a "cargotail" configuration. The front section features an ABS cargo box with two opening doors and two child seats equipped with five-point safety harnesses. Behind the rider, the extended rear section accommodates two older children, luggage, or even an adult passenger.

The e-bike measures 250 × 70 cm and supports a maximum payload of 250 kg, with seating for up to four children. Galian also demonstrated collapsible rear side rails that fold down to simplify boarding for adults before raising again to create a more secure seating area for younger passengers.

Customers can choose between two electric drive systems. The Bosch Cargo Line version delivers 120 Nm of torque, paired with a Shimano Cues 9-speed drivetrain, a 545 Wh battery, and Eco, Auto, Cargo, and Turbo riding modes. An optional 800 Wh battery is also available for greater energy capacity.

The second option uses the Valeo Cyclee system, increasing torque to 130 Nm while adding an automatic gearbox, belt drive, and Eco, Predict, and Turbo modes. A dedicated Boost function assists with hill starts and acceleration. Galian estimates a riding range of up to 80 km, depending on terrain, payload, and assistance level.

Le Formidable is built around a 7000-series aluminum frame manufactured and welded in France. Braking is handled by four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, while powerful front and rear lighting improves visibility during nighttime riding.

Instead of suspension, the bike relies on a steel fork and large balloon tires for comfort and stability under heavy loads. An adjustable handlebar and seatpost accommodate riders from 1.55 m in height, while a dual-cable steering system and steering angle exceeding 90 degrees improve maneuverability in tight urban environments.

By combining front cargo capacity with an extended rear passenger section, the Galian Le Formidable offers a flexible electric transport solution designed to meet a wide variety of family mobility needs.
