The Fairphone 6+ builds on the modular platform introduced with the Fairphone Gen 6, making measured hardware improvements while retaining the same fundamental approach to repairability and longevity. Rather than competing primarily on flagship specifications, the device is designed around the idea of keeping a phone functional for as long as possible.
Power comes from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor paired with 12GB of RAM, the highest memory capacity yet offered on a Fairphone. The phone includes 256GB of internal storage, with additional capacity available through a microSD card.
The display is a 6.31-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Its camera system consists of a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. A removable 4,415mAh battery supports 30W charging. The handset also carries an IP55 rating and uses Gorilla Glass 7i on the front.
Repairability remains the defining feature. Twelve components can be removed using only a Torx screwdriver, allowing users to replace worn or damaged parts such as the battery or display without necessarily replacing the entire handset. Fairphone also offers official replacement components, with published prices ranging from approximately $8 to $90 depending on the part.
The phone retains Fairphone's distinctive lime-green Switch. Activating it changes the device to Fairphone Moments mode, which reduces unwanted notifications and limits the interface to a smaller selection of essential applications. The feature provides a hardware-based approach to reducing digital distractions.
The US launch also changes how the phone is distributed. The Fairphone 6+ runs standard Android 16 with Google services and supports T-Mobile and AT&T networks. Previously, US customers primarily accessed Fairphone devices through Murena, which offered a de-Googled Android configuration.
The handset is offered in a single hardware configuration with Cobalt Blue, Forest Green and Horizon Black finishes. Fairphone provides a five-year warranty and plans software updates through 2032. The company also highlights the use of Fairtrade materials and estimates the device's carbon footprint at approximately 30kg of CO₂.
The Fairphone 6+ therefore makes a different argument from conventional smartphones. Its appeal is not simply faster hardware, but the possibility of repairing, maintaining and continuing to use the same device for years. In a market built around frequent upgrades and increasingly sealed designs, longevity becomes the product's central feature.
