Shandong University is a public comprehensive university in Shandong, China. It is one of the largest universities in China by student population (57,500 full-time students in 2009) and is supported directly by the national government.

Formerly known as Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1958, the university changed its name to Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SUTCM) in 1996, and developed into a key university for higher education of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese pharmacy, and combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.

So far, the school has 22 undergraduate disciplines, involving medicine, science, literature and management, 44 master programs and 15 doctoral programs. According to the university, there are about 18,600 full-time students, 400 of which are from overseas.
