The company’s milestones:

1926: Russell Gray, a Minneapolis parking lot attendant, founded Gray Company, Inc. with his brother Leil Gray to produce and sell Russell's air-powered grease gun, invented in response to cold weather making hand-powered grease guns inoperable.

1945: The company began expanding outside of lubricant handling, developing a paint pump and direct-from-drum industrial fluids pumps.

1958: The company introduced the first airless paint sprayer.

1960: The company acted quickly to create an infrastructure to manage worldwide growth, forming the first export department, followed by the first international sales division with subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, South America and Canada.

1965: Gray Company developed an electrically powered airless spray system that freed painting contractors from bulky compressors.

1981: The company established a joint-venture, Graco Robotics, Inc. (GRI), with Edon Finishing Systems of Troy, Michigan, in order to develop a robotics paint-finishing system.

1983: The company introduced more successful new products than any other year—particularly in sealant and adhesive applications as the electronics market grew.

1990: The company launched LineLazer™ pavement line stripers.

1993: Graco became the first company in its industry to become ISO 9000--registered at all its major sites. ISO 9000, which set business practice standards, was adopted by the International Organization for Standardization in 1987.

2022: Graco continued to invest in the future, adding solar energy to the new facility in Dayton. There was a 1.4-megawatt solar array added, consisting of over 3,100 solar panels on the roof of the building. This investment will improve Graco's environmental footprint. Over the next 30 years, the solar array is expected to offset over 23,000 tons of CO2
