  • 1919: Bentley Motors was established with H.M. and W.O. Bentley and H.M.J. Ward as directors
  • 1921:  The history of Bentley motor cars truly begins with the delivery of the brand’s first automobile in September.
  • 1924: Bentley became widely known for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
  • 1930: A group of high-profile British motorists drove Bentley cars to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, four times in a row.
  • 1931: Rolls-Royce bought the Bentley Motors business.
  • 1933: Debut of the first Rolls-Royce-produced Bentley, the 3 ½ -liter.
  • 1939: Launch of the Bentley MkV, equipped with the 4 ½ -liter engine and independent front suspension.
  • 1946: The Bentley MkVI was launched. It is the first Bentley to feature a pressed steel body and also the first to be built from standard Rolls-Royce components.
  • 1952: The Bentley R-Type Continental made its debut, a Mulliner-bodied coupe capable of 120mph. It is the last Bentley to be built with no equivalent Rolls-Royce model for 30 years.
  • 1965: The Bentley T Series was launched, almost identical in appearance to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. It features a one-piece body, independent suspension and disc brakes. A two-door version follows six months later.
  • 1985: The legendary Bentley Mulsanne Turbo R was launched, the fastest road-going Bentley yet.
  • 1998: Bentley has been a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group since 1998
  • 2002: Bentley and Rolls-Royce were separate companies once again, after 67 years together. The company was once more known by its original name: Bentley Motors.
