The company operates its business through the following segments: powertrain systems, thermal systems, comfort and driving assistance systems and visibility systems. The powertrain systems segment deals with electrical, transmission, engine management, air management, and hybrid/electric vehicle systems.


The thermal systems segment manufactures systems, modules, and components for climate control and front-end modules.   • 1923: Société Anonyme Française de Ferodo (SAFF) was founded in 1923 in Saint-Ouen, near Paris. It first distributed brake linings and clutch facings under license from Ferodo.
  • 1932: The company began producing clutches. In the same year, it was listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.
  • 1946: SAFF acquired the license for fluiddive hydraulic transmission, which equipped on Lanchester in the UK and Dodge in the US
  • 1961: The firm produced braking systems and thermal systems (1962)
  • 1963: The company started to expand internationally. SAFF entered Spanish market and the Europe.
  • 1974: SAFF entered Brazil’s market
  • 1980: the company was renamed Valeo. Valeo entered the US’s market
  • 1994: Valeo’s expansion came to China.
  • 2000: Valeo produced parking assistance systems using ultrasonic sensors.
  • 2015: Valeo expanded it business by the acquisitions of German automotive suppliers Peiker and Spheros
  • 2017: Valeo presented its low-voltage prototype electric vehicle at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
  • 2021: The Group employed 113,601 people in 33 countries throughout the world. It has 184 production plants, 55 R&D centers and 15 distribution platforms.
