The company is responsible for the production of breakfast cereal brands, including Weetabix, Alpen, Crunchy Bran, and Ready Brek. The company also produces Puffins cereal and Snackimals snacks through its Barbara's Bakery division.



Many types of cereal are vegan, including Weetabix, Rice Krispies, and most brands of bran flakes, cornflakes, and muesli.



The company is headquartered in Burton Latimer, Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. Weetabix has factories in Europe, East Africa, and North America. It is the largest producer of breakfast cereals in the UK. It exports to eighty countries.

  • 1932: British and African Cereal Co Ltd was founded. The company acquired a disused flour mill in Burton Latimer to start production of a revolutionary new cereal – Weetabix.
  • 1936: The company changed its name to Weetabix Limited.
  • 1950: Weetabix Perfect Flour was released.
  • 1967: Weetabix's reputation grew around the globe and heralded its arrival in Canada and the United States.
  • 1971: Alpen muesli cereal was invented.
  • 1981: Weetabix and Alpen went pole-to-pole fuelling Sir Ranulph Fiennes' Transglobe Expedition.
  • 1991: Weetabix acquired the super smooth and creamy Ready brek porridge brand from Lyons Tetley.
  • 1997: Weetabix Mini was launched.
  • 2000: Weetabix expanded the choice of flavors and favorites got a big boost, with a host of new additions: Alpen Bars launched in 2002, Oatibix launched in 2006, Alpen light bars launched in 2006, Weetabix Chocolate in 2010.
  • 2013: Weetabix involved in breakfast drinks by launching Weetabix On The Go brand.
  • 2016: Weetabix launched the Weetabix Protein Biscuit which had an extra boost of added protein.
  • 2017: Weetabix became a part of Post Holdings, an American consumer packaged goods holding company.
  • 2020: The packaging for Barbara's Bakery cereals was revamped.
